Swankety Swank Showcase proudly presents the Nasturtium Dresser! This upcycled beauty is 44″ tall (plus a 5″ tall ornamental detailing), 34″ wide, and 20″ deep. The piece is on wheels for easy movement. Its legs raise it 9.5″ off the ground.
This detail highlights the delicate nasturtiums of the piece. Nasturtiums are commonly cultivated as ornamental flowers, but all parts of the plant are edible. Wikipedia tells us, “The flower has most often been consumed, making for an especially ornamental salad ingredient; it has a slightly peppery taste reminiscent of watercress, and is also used in stir fry. The unripe seed pods can be harvested and pickled with hot vinegar, to produce a condiment and garnish, sometimes used in place of capers, although the taste is strongly peppery. The mashua (T. tuberosum) produces an edible underground tuber that is a major food source in parts of the Andes.”
With its delicate handles and deep mahogany sheen, the Nasturtium Dresser radiates a natural grounding presence. It brings to mind the Ralph Sockman quote, “Nothing is so strong as gentleness, and nothing is so gentle as true strength.”
Like all of Yabette’s art furniture, this piece was cleaned, sanded, refinished, hand painted and clear coated with earth friendly, low VOC paints.
