After a few hours of shooting some new pieces from the Hemp Collection, we moved outside to get our last couple shots. The light was absolutely perfect while Yabette was styling our model and muse, Bianca.
Yabette and Bianca met on an art project Yabette was working on. I remember her telling me about this super cool young woman she met…Yabette immediately thought she would make an awesome Swankety Swank model because she’s not only cool and gorgeous, she’s also a socially conscious creator who does work in the theater world as a performer and playwright among her other many abilities. (You should hear her sing!!) You can read more about Bianca here. Continue reading →

I love to try new ways of being creative, but somehow I have never associated this with cooking… until last week’s visit to Santa Fe, New Mexico, when I made a batch of cookies with no recipe. (gasp) The best part about that is how perfect and delicious they were. So in honor of trying new things, (and because a few friends asked me) here’s the recipe using what was on hand. These are not super sweet- more along the lines of a nutty biscotti taste- add more sugar if you want them sweeter. xxoo Yabette
…for a bag sewing workshop. And these two completely rocked it. Inquire with firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like private lessons or a workshop with a friend. Currently accepting new summer students. xxoo Yabette
Discount Fabric Outlet in the Mission treated us right. The girls chose several cottons and some light knits with plans for bags and maxi dresses! With 5 different pieces for each girl plus thread, zippers and notions, they came in under their combined $80 budget!
I love teaching girls who are as excited as I am about fabric. xxoo Yabette
