The Sunday Spawn

Yes, I said spawn. Create. Engender. Yield. Beget. I am feeling the effects of the push as 5 new paintings in oils were born this week in preparation for the June 22nd event that celebrates the arrival of Jubilieu in the Castro. They have been miraculously drying faster than I think they should in the chilly, wet fog of San Francisco June.

As I paint, their stories have been swirling around in my head. They will be available to be heard online as recordings read by voice over talent, producer, and lit artist, judy-b.  I am going to produce a coffee table book as well. A Hard back, full color rendition of the Jubilieu characters and stories will be available along with the original oil works.

This is a new stretch for me. I’ve had thoughts in my head that come from fear trying to hold me back. They are banished in the name of new growth.

So every Sunday leading to the show, I have been painting live out front of this bright establishment (with the perfect afternoon delights for high tea or a caffeine fix.)

Here are a few of the works in progress from the sunny sidewalk of Sweet Inspiration.

Feel free to come over and sit in the window next to me. I love to chat while I work and you will surely love the delectable dining and the lively, creative atmosphere. I have a curated mix of some new works and some from the last show currently in the viewing gallery for your pleasure and purchasing perusal. -xxooYabette

Raven flies to Akron Artwalk

The sadness of missing my Ohio tribe (I am NOT referring to baseball) is balanced by my joy of having my paintings on canvas represented in a fabulous show of talent by Ohio women. Earthtones: Aerie ballroom of the divine feminine for the Downtown AKron ARTwalk is happening this Saturday, April 5th in my glorious hometown of Akron, Ohio. It takes place at 57 E. Market St. with parking across the street at the Akron Art Museum parking garage.

Here’s one of the paintings to be included that epitomizes my love for Akron.

I also sent new work, inspired by the raven who first showed me I must leave my roots in an informal shamanic journey Kundulini Yoga class I took in Columbus, Ohio back in 1998. Since then, the raven appears in my visions and in the material world often as a synchronicity sign to keep aspiring to change, reaching for further heights of accomplishment in striving for my own life’s highest potential.

I will also have this Butterflies work on oil in this show. They show up in my world also as a sign of synchronicity and affirmation of my life path.

One of the best experiences I had in live painting last summer was with this tree captured at a joyful event on Lake Erie. I finished the details later and have this oil to represent the endless beauty of nature found in Ohio.

If you are near Akron next weekend, surely check out my work and many other talented photographers, painters, sculptors and musicians at this not-to-be-missed event curated by the amazing Eartha L. Goodwin. Infuse some divine feminine into your life and buy a piece for your home! xxooYabette

Up the Scales on Central Market: Sunset Piano Opus 3

While being out of town last summer, following the Sunset Piano Journey was my wistful pleasure. When I found out Mauro Ffortissimo and Co were furthering the pursuit of piano street performance with a new San Francisco sanctioned version on Market Street, I could not miss the first concert.

The truth is, there’s nothing really classier than a grand piano. What a charming way to elevate 6th and Market street, adding to the flavor of the Show Dogs restaurant corner in Central Market area of San Francisco. From contemporary classical and jazz to  swanky standards, the piano performances gave passersby and Sunset Piano Followers a lovely treat. Continue reading
