The Sunday Spawn

Yes, I said spawn. Create. Engender. Yield. Beget. I am feeling the effects of the push as 5 new paintings in oils were born this week in preparation for the June 22nd event that celebrates the arrival of Jubilieu in the Castro. They have been miraculously drying faster than I think they should in the chilly, wet fog of San Francisco June.

As I paint, their stories have been swirling around in my head. They will be available to be heard online as recordings read by voice over talent, producer, and lit artist, judy-b.  I am going to produce a coffee table book as well. A Hard back, full color rendition of the Jubilieu characters and stories will be available along with the original oil works.

This is a new stretch for me. I’ve had thoughts in my head that come from fear trying to hold me back. They are banished in the name of new growth.

So every Sunday leading to the show, I have been painting live out front of this bright establishment (with the perfect afternoon delights for high tea or a caffeine fix.)

Here are a few of the works in progress from the sunny sidewalk of Sweet Inspiration.

Feel free to come over and sit in the window next to me. I love to chat while I work and you will surely love the delectable dining and the lively, creative atmosphere. I have a curated mix of some new works and some from the last show currently in the viewing gallery for your pleasure and purchasing perusal. -xxooYabette

Healing Waters Art Show Closes Soon

Working on this collection and showing it on the sunny Castro walls of Sweet Inspiration has been a highly satisfactory experience. Most people do not close their successful retail shop to hole up in a studio to paint oils on canvas.

I did. I feel good about following my heart. This bold move has led me to many others, like unschooling my son, talking about ufo’s, and exploring Shamanic journeys. The truth is, life is too short to live for what everyone else thinks you should be doing. Having stepped out of my own box, I am living a kind of freedom I might have never known had I not taken steps continually towards it. The universe continues to support me in this endeavor, as I continue those steps in the freedom discovery tour that is currently my life!

If you have not made it to the Healing Waters Art Show yet, you can this week. It will leave the premises after Sunday, May 18th. Available work can be purchased directly here and you can get prints here. Thank you for your support. XXOO Yabette

High Spirits with Stephanie Mufson

The adorable Stephanie Mufson is a creative force of talent, humor, and enterprising energy. She is another perfect third to the triangle foundation of this week’s Infinite Union:A 3 Woman Art Show. It’s especially wonderful that the Artist Reception on Saturday falls on her birthday and will be quite the celebration!

While she is currently creating constant commercial work as the manager of the Bay Area’s Parade Float and Prop House East West (Aka The Parade Guys) at pier 54 in San Francisco, she is also creating whimsical graphic art pieces. While their sculptural nature adds to the subject, their airy qualities of buoyant joy are quite evident!

Here’s her thoughts on this current work: “Dark and Light. Interior and Exterior. Dreaming and awake. Us and Them. known and unknown. Alan Watts pointed out the obvious truism that you can’t have a front with out a back. They are inherently, inseparably connected, like two sides of the same coin.

The space in between, that liminal tunnel that connects one to its opposite, is the place that connects us all to each other and everything that is. And is not. And lost in the interwoven maze of material and metaphor, like a ship on the ocean, or a balloon amongst the stars, we find our selves tangled, alone. Together.”
