Swankspirations

Bistro De Tour Eiffel ParisMy spirit could not be dampened by the rain, nor the stern look from the waitress insisting “We don’t do that here” upon my request for a container to take the remainder of that perfect creamy squash soup with me. It was the night before my birthday and I was in Paris! I had just wondered through the streets near 24 Rue Francois 1er and stared into the windows of the closed shops of Christian Dior, Chanel, Hermes and the like. While stopping there at Cafe’ Mode for an evening bite, I sketched the scene and water colored and inked it later. I’ll always remember my happy jaunt in the rain with my light jacket and umbrella, halting in emotional surprise when I came upon the watery night view of the Eiffel Tour lights.

Isn’t Life Luscious?

Having just returned from two months away from San Francisco, on an epic “Healing and Inspiration Journey” involving six states and two European countries, I applied myself straight away towards inspired projects. Here is the first of several in my energetic creation vortex!

Dragon appearance at Swankety Studio

During his first painting lesson, I asked him to first think about what he would like to paint. Without hesitation, he said “my DnD character”. (who happens to be a half dragon sorcerer)

We looked at komodo dragons for reference first. There was lots of pencil drawing and erasing of shapes to get the proportions right, and then the painting began.  Good times! xxoo Yabette

Affordable Alchemy for All

“Art is the Queen of all sciences communicating knowledge

to all the generations of the world.” — Leonardo Da Vinci

I have been browsing Airbnb lately as I plan a short trip to NYC this summer. It was interesting to run across a listing in which the feedback complaints were about the lack of art. People are recognizing more and more how necessary art is to creating an inspiring environment. The highest priced places were the most colorful, with an artful presentation that brings a relaxed joy to the eyes.

With this in mind, I have been looking for ways to offer more affordable options of my own art, yet retaining a quality and presentation that is tasteful and lasting. So after researching and testing, I have found the solution with high quality art prints on stretched canvas. These are available in my shop listed by size and shape. For example, this “Joie de Vivre” Oil 48×60″ original is available for $3000. But you can get a high quality canvas print version ready-to-hang and delivered to your door in a 30×40″ size for $300 plus shipping. Or get the small version for your bath at an easy $100.
