After having worked with Tiffany Marie Hill as Swankety Swank Brand Ambassador for a blissful 6 months, I am keenly aware of this. Continue reading
While that’s a lofty headline and sounds like a claim similar to the 90s diet pill fen-phen being great for your health, I am telling you the truth. And these pants will not be recalled by the FDA.
At this time last year, I rebranded Swankety Swank and launched the new website with the Hemp Collection. After a year of sewing samples, traveling around the country, getting opinions and testing fabrics, I am certain that the launch of the hemp fleece trousers are going to plant a seed that will change everything. You will never know a pants fabric that is more rugged, more cozy, smooth on the outside, “fleecy soft” on the inside and as long lasting as these. And you’ll only find them exclusively from Swankety Swank.
But first, here’s a photo of Rad in a Hemp Duster that is also being launched because doesn’t he look cool? When I told him at our photoshoot that I’d have him wear the duster with a tee that I cut up and would scrawl a positive and semi rebellious word that epitomizes his generation, he called it out. I knew it was perfect. That intuitive knowing from being in a high vibration creative flow state is always genius.
Why the word “feminist” is semi-rebellious is a story to be unpacked by better writers than I, and it goes along with the idea of hemp saving the world. The alignment of equality for women, equality for all humans, protecting our Earth, and healing it is all tied up with us- EACH of us as individuals! Continue reading
This fantastic event is giving me life! Join me for a night of luxury, glamour, and glorification of the plant that has over 25,000 different uses! While she has been misunderstood, neglected and underestimated, HEMP is now coming into her own and I am showcasing her with might and muse!
I have finished my year long focus in oils on hemp and am bringing you my results plus education in The Hemp Show hanging this very moment in Rosenblum Cellars Winery at The Ferry Building in Oakland’s Jack London Square. You can get a peek at some of the art here, while the rest will be unveiled online after this Artist Reception Event.
My spirit could not be dampened by the rain, nor the stern look from the waitress insisting “We don’t do that here” upon my request for a container to take the remainder of that perfect creamy squash soup with me. It was the night before my birthday and I was in Paris! I had just wondered through the streets near 24 Rue Francois 1er and stared into the windows of the closed shops of Christian Dior, Chanel, Hermes and the like. While stopping there at Cafe’ Mode for an evening bite, I sketched the scene and water colored and inked it later. I’ll always remember my happy jaunt in the rain with my light jacket and umbrella, halting in emotional surprise when I came upon the watery night view of the Eiffel Tour lights.
This and several like it, professionally framed by Capricorn Framing are part of my solo exhibition in the Haight Ashbury District at Blue Front Cafe at 1430 Haight St. San Francisco, CA. Continue reading
Cute Capelets…Your New Cool Weather Staple
We’ve added some fabulous new pieces to the shop, and we hope that you love them as much as we do. These pieces are designed to be sexy, versatile, and fun to wear.
In the spirit of sustainability and low waste, Yabette wanted to find ways to use the off-cut scraps of hemp that were left from her currents rolls. We love the way they came together as capelets. Some of them have added liners in luxuriously warm and strong hemp fleece making them deliciously cozy around the neck and shoulders. Perfect for a layer-happy city like San Francisco. We love the silhouette a capelet gives- emphasizing the shoulders in proportion to the waist. The use of the off-cuts makes each one of these capelets unique. Continue reading

After a few hours of shooting some new pieces from the Hemp Collection, we moved outside to get our last couple shots. The light was absolutely perfect while Yabette was styling our model and muse, Bianca.
Yabette and Bianca met on an art project Yabette was working on. I remember her telling me about this super cool young woman she met…Yabette immediately thought she would make an awesome Swankety Swank model because she’s not only cool and gorgeous, she’s also a socially conscious creator who does work in the theater world as a performer and playwright among her other many abilities. (You should hear her sing!!) You can read more about Bianca here. Continue reading
As I’ve been working this week on designs for an editorial print opportunity and feeling the San Francisco subtle signs of Autumn, I am thinking future, I am thinking bold, and feeling the mystic undertones of our planet. Here are a few of my inspirations to share.
Bringing hemp into the modern age with style happens easily with this Millennial Dress.
This is THE dress of the fall season! The versatile design and medium density weight jersey works in many climates, seasons, and occasions from sophisticated black dress affair to sporty casual. This hemp and organic cotton jersey blend is cozy, yet allows the skin to breathe with its natural fibers. It is a smooth small ribbed knit that also has an easy stretch.
Our first Millenial Dress buyer gave this feedback after taking it on vacation to Amsterdam: “Got a lot of compliments in Amsterdam- wore it a lot, on a bike, in restaurants, all the time.”
